How to Source Halloween & Cosplay Costumes for Your Store — 2026 Wholesale Playbook
MOQ, samples, private label, QC and FBA-ready packing: a practical checklist for retailers buying costumes from a factory.

Buying costumes wholesale is not hard, but the details decide whether you make money. This playbook covers what to confirm before you place a production order.
Start with the product that sells twice
Costume demand is seasonal, so pick styles that have a second life: hero suits that work for conventions, princess gowns for birthday photos, career sets for school events. A style with two demand windows pays for its mould and print setup twice as fast.
Examples from our line: Deadpool-style bodysuit, Captain America style muscle suit, Wolverine-style cosplay suit.
The seven things to confirm with any supplier
- MOQ per size and colour. Low MOQ on stock styles, higher on fully custom prints.
- Sample lead time and cost. Around a week is normal on ready styles; ask whether the sample fee is credited to the bulk order.
- Size chart basis. Height-based charts reduce returns more than chest measurements alone.
- Fabric composition and stretch. Stretch blends print better and fit more body types.
- Compliance. Needle detection and fibre-content labelling for kids' lines; know the destination market's rules.
- Packing standard. Poly-bag, hang tag, carton weight and whether the supplier can print your FNSKU labels.
- Payment terms. Typical wholesale terms are a deposit on confirmation with the balance against documents; confirm what your supplier accepts before committing.
Private label vs. stock styles
Stock styles are faster and cheaper; private label builds your brand. A practical split: buy 70% of your opening order in stock styles to validate demand, then re-order the winners with your own neck label, hang tag and poly-bag. Setup cost per style is modest and the margin difference is significant.
FBA and marketplace sellers: ask for this
If you sell on marketplaces, request FBA-ready packing up front: individually poly-bagged units, correct label placement, no price tags, and cartons under the marketplace's weight limit. Handling this at the factory is far cheaper than at a third-party warehouse.
A realistic timeline
- Week 1: samples, size chart review, quote comparison
- Week 2: confirm quantities, deposit, labels and packing spec
- Weeks 3–5: production, in-line QC, needle detection
- Week 5–6: final inspection, carton photos, shipment
Add buffer if your order lands in the August–October peak. Booking production earlier is the single biggest lever on delivery reliability.
